Fruity Flavoured Yogurt

The minute I think of Calcium rich foods, the first thing that pops into my mind is Yogurt closely followed by Milk. Indians enjoy the advantage of having Yogurt included as a part of their meal and do get sufficient calcium. But I find that many others dont have that habit and lose out on the benefits of Yogurt that it has to offer.

Smoothies are one way to go and the more varieties there is, the better. No one likes to eat the same thing day in and day out. Dried Fruits are godown of health and nutrition and thats one thing I try to include as much as I can, but sometimes thanks to the daily humdrum and busy lifestyle, I dont have time or energy to make something always which incorporates the same.

Hence I went in for flavored Yogurt which can be consumed either during Breakfast or during the evening hours ( for those who dont prefer Yogurt in the mornings). This not only fills you pushing your hunger away, it also furnishes the body with soul food.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Yogurt

  • 1/4 cups pitted dates

  • 1/4 cups pitted prunes

  • 1 banana

  • 2-3 tbsp of chopped walnuts ( toasted/plain)

Method

1. Chop the dates and prunes into small pieces

2.Mix them along with the yogurt in a bowl, cover it and keep it in the fridge overnight (for breakfast ) or in the morning (for evening). This helps to soften up the fruits.

3.Before serving, slice up the banana into thin slices.

Add them to the yogurt mixture and while serving garnish it with some toasted or plain chopped walnuts.

There simple, v healthy and nutritious and you end up feeling light and good too.

This is my entry to Food Blogga's : Osteoporosis Event with a calcium rich recipe.

Hi DK,

As I was going through this post, I kept getting more excited with each addition--I simply adore dates, bananas, and walnuts. I cannot wait to make this for breakfast!

Thanks for submitting such a healthy, calcium-rich dish for Beautiful Bones. It's great to "meet" you.

Cheers,
Susan
